A Guide to San Diego’s Golden Hill

Just east of San Diego’s waterfront downtown lies Golden Hill, a historic neighborhood known for tree-lined streets dotted with Victorian houses and a quaint hub of restaurants and bars on 25th Street. Golden Hill also marks the southeastern end of Balboa Park and contains the entrance to the Pershing Bikeway, Golden Hill Park and the Balboa Park Golf Course.

Part of San Diego’s regional bike program, the Pershing bikeway is a two-lane, buffered bike and walking lane that connects Balboa Park and the North and South Park neighborhoods with Downtown San Diego. The bikeway provides access to and views of Morley Field and its public pool, tennis courts and disc golf course, as well as the Balboa Park Golf Course. At the southern end of the bikeway lies the entrance to Golden HIll Park, with athletic fields, a recreation center, picnic areas and a dog park.

The course borders San Diego’s South Park and Golden HIll neighborhoods, just five minutes away from the San Diego Convention Center, Downtown hotels, Little Italy and the Gaslamp Quarter.
