Discover craft distilling in San Diego

It's no secret that San Diego is blessed with an exceptional craft brewing industry. As a global craft beer capital, San Diego's innovative beer culture currently fosters 150 licensed and operational breweries. Another emerging market has started to gain traction - craft distilling. There are now 15-plus craft distilleries in San Diego, which are producing a gamut of spirits.

Just as San Diegan's have honed their palates for higher quality ales & lagers, the demand for craft spirits is rising as well. A new age of localism is starting to develop around cocktails. Notably, there's a growing appreciation for cocktails mixed with locally produced, small batch spirits. Locals are becoming more conscious about what they're drinking, how it's made and where it's from, and visitors are invited to experience it for themselves.

San Diego's distilleries are producing exceptional and exciting spirits. Be sure to try: Malahat's Ginger Rum, 619's Cucumber Vodka, Cutwater Spirits' Devil's Share Single Malt Whiskey, and Old Harbor's San Miguel South Western Gin (distilled with cilantro & limes). And while only about half the distilleries have tasting rooms, you can find their bottles on a fast growing number of restaurant and bar shelves around San Diego.
